101th POST: Thank you, WDAS~

It's been a while~

I went on a magical 14 month journey at the Walt Disney Animation Studios.  I got to be a part of the stereo conversion of The Little Mermaid 3D, a Mickey Mouse Short film ”Get a Horse!”  and finally, the 2013 Thanksgiving feature film, Frozen.  It was an absolute pleasure working with Production and the Animation Department, and I will be in close contact.  Now, it is time to buckle down and figure out what I love doing.

This is how brought home my cube's contents, setting off into the brave world, newly changed:

HAPPY 2013!

Hello All~!  I had to end last year with something mediocre so that I can start 2013 with a hot bang!

I've officially passed my probation period, so it's safe to say I am a true full-time member of the Mouse House!  This piece is what I wish I looked like--my first take on an exaggerated caricature and soft rim lighting.  It also represents the second secret project I'm working on.  >wink<

My process:

Midnight Tango

Tomorrow, I'm off to Spain and Portugal with my family.  I'm finally graduated, and off to one more family trip before I buckle down in the real world as a legit member of the workforce.  This piece is inspired by the mood of what I expect to feel from those places...  But maybe it's just a skewed version in my LaLa Land...

Will be back by June 4, but will still have internet--so email is still a-go!

Artist at Work

One more week after this one at the CalArts dorms.  This image below, despite the craptastic coloring and shading, is how I think I would like to perceive how I work while jamming to music from right under my desk.  Weird shot, I know, but I'm trying to make it somewhat interesting.  Maybe I'll do another [much better] one when I settle down in my own place.  One day...

New Barnabus

Boogying it down with the 70's disco era.  Can't wait to see Johnny Depp's stellar performance.

BARNABUS

My take on a Barnabus Collins portrait from Tim Burton's upcoming Dark Shadows.

Happy 2012~!

I'm going to start the new year with a BANG--!!

The following is my take on the theme CLASSIC for an art contest:

As the mystery begins, we are plunged immediately into a Noir scene where the viewer is offered a ride by a classic femme fatale all clad in black with perfectly curled hair, a serious expression, and full red lips.

The car is my take on a red vintage Ferrari inspired by Steve McQueen's 1963 250 GT Lusso Berlinetta [a racer's modified version of the 1940 long-nose] with black leather seats.  The door is swung open wide from the inside offering us, a seeming accomplice, to get away before the police cars catch up.  The police cars are suggested in the background by the blue and red lights which play a huge roll in the image:  Red is glaring on the sides of the femme's hair as a sign of danger, but the strong blue diagonal light streaming in from the windshield across her symbolizes a hopeful sense of escape.

As an audience we are unsure who are the good or bad guys in the scene, but we do know that whatever crime committed is serious enough for this lady to have a gun on the passenger seat.  The gun lies on top of her open purse which means she was intending to use it either to defend herself, or to kill.  Will you jump in and join in the danger, or will you just stand and watch what could be an epic car chase?  The decision is yours...

Enjoy my Neo-Noir take!  [Available in Classic Black & White and in Color!]
